I love the changing season especially from summer into autumn, not only does it mark the end of the manically busy wedding season it also means the environment that I get to shoot in changes. M tools are different so I do what is natural to me embrace it; really looking at the colours, textures, light and tones; every season is beautiful in my eyes. I think everything about Katie & Will’s wedding screamed autumn to me. Katie’s dress was hand made from antique pieces of lace that were found, it was so fragile it reminded me of a leaf when it crumbles it was so beautiful a real work of art. The brooch bouquet was made by Katie’s mum and she relayed the stories of how she came to find each jewel, it really was beautiful twinkling in the light. The ceremony took place in Arundel, which is a historic English town with a huge castle, river and cathedral, the town hall was full of character, huge paintings and windows setting the scene for the day. Will’s brother was in charge of the music highlights was Lynyrd Skynyrd “Free as a bird” and INXS (Got to love a bit of ”Never tear us apart”) . The reception took place in Duncton Fishery, which is a gorgeous setting in the depths of the South Downs and just down the road from my house; a huge lake with some cool tepees set the scene. Guests enjoyed chess, mini cream tea canapés and the afternoon sun, Will said a few words and the afternoon was uber relaxed and a pleasure to share. As I was local I knew a gorgeous forest that I wanted to shoot in, we headed deep into the ferns, it was so quiet and peaceful a million miles away from the wedding and such a special time a chance for Will and Katie to have a breather and reflect on the day. I could not resist the opportunity to ask Will & Katie to lay on the forest floor on beautiful furs it was a perfect ending to a great moment. The reception kicked off with a hearty hog roast, a quiz, which was hilarious, and then cake, wine, a fire and dancing till the stars came out. This wedding was packed full of personality, it really reflected Katie & Will so down to earth and clearly deeply in love. This was also my last wedding with the ever brilliant Sue who came and second shot with me, so many thanks so her for keeping me sane in some insane moments this summer x
