Way back when summer bowed out for the year, autumn shimmied in to replace her, I headed to a place that I have never been “Shropshire” {I know that sounds weird considering I have traveled around the world but hey ho….}. I looked on the satnav and cranked up the tunes and headed off into the wilderness, buildings started to disappear and instead I was greeted with hills, forests, fields and lanes I felt like I was coming home. I stopped the car to just take a moment the calm before the storm as I knew I was a mile away, I swear at that moment I smelt cider and wood smoke in the air and the silence felt enormous I had that excited feeling of today is going to ace! I eventually found the house tucked away deep in the countryside and even before I got in it I was like WOW! I met the owner who was some eccentric really tall lady who made me giggle, I walked what it felt like miles to find Lizzie getting ready the house was amazing, in that totally lived in way I was in love with it. Lizzie and I started immediately gushing about the madness of the house and she looked at me and said “we totally love eccentric taste it is totally our style…” now that is like a green light to me I set to work. The wedding was so much fun, the church they married in was in the village, Tom {the groom} was buzzing around when I arrived and looked a bag of nervous energy, his friends were all helping him out by organising people and also winding him up somewhat which is sometimes what ones needs! The church was a buzz, the sun was out, the vicar {who was very strict and assertive with me, and did not crack a smile once} was bossing people about we were all set to go. Lizzie arrived beaming from ear to ear looking nervous too but so happy with it, her Dad walked her down the isle and she looked amazing her dress was so beautiful, elegant and delicate and the bridesmaid were so vibrant in pink. The service was great with the congregation singing their hearts out to the hymns, there were cute readings and when they walked down the aisle everyone was beaming. The reception kicked off back at the sprawling pad with fondue; this is Tom’s favourite thing ever and was determined to have it. I loved the way he looked at me and said, everyone said it was the worse thing to serve, people will drop it down themselves it is messy requires a flame… and you know what I don’t care it is my most favourite thing in the world. This totally summed up this wedding Lizze & Tom did it their way, they choose a ramshackled beautiful venue miles away as they fell in love with it and the fact that it was full of stuff and it was not perfect. They ate fondue, as they loved it, they had barrels of ale and cider for guests to help themselves, as they loved that too. They saw having their photos taken as one of the best bits of the day, we wandered round the estate and we could have been gone for hours it was epic. The speeches literally had me in tears laughing, Tom’s comic timing was sheer genius the way he summed the whole wedding planning experience was hilarious I really think he should seriously consider writing a book about it. The lasting memories of this day was the humour, the laughter, the fun and that everyone was so relaxed and having a great time. Thanks so much Lizzie & Tom for letting me capture your day I had the best time ever {I have to admit when Tom said that you had looked at heaps of photographers work and you were picky then I felt mildly sick} so I am so glad you love your photos… Oh and a big up Lizzie runs an amazing furniture business check it out she is one talented lady
