I love Brighton, I lived there for 13 years; it really gets under your skin it is still my favourite ever city; there are not many places in the world where you can be dressed up walk along the street as Adam Ant and no-one bats an eyelid {this is true as it happened to me}. I guess it is my hometown really so to shoot a wedding there is right up my street I was a little bit excited. Shanna & Sam love Brighton too; Shanna went to Uni there and adored it so they choose the eccentric little town by the sea for their wedding.
They got married in the uber stylish and cool Hotel du Vin, this is a hip venue right bang in the thick of things just a stone throw from the seafront. It was a perfect venue, with a beautiful ceremony room, great food, a fab courtyard for drinks and nibbles and then a stroll away from the sea. I arrived in the morning to the mayhem of the getting ready and these girls were having a hoot; both mums and friends were in one room and the atmosphere was electric their was so much excitement in the air. The hotel originally told me the wrong room so I turned up on the wrong brides door, so when I saw Shanna I was relieved to be in the right place and she greeted me with a huge hug and smile. I think the first thing I said to her was WOW you look amazing like Dita Von Tesse so elegant and beautiful, all day she looked that stunning even after going to the seafront for some piccies. The ceremony was lovely and Sam was really nervous but as soon as he saw Shanna he just beamed from ear to ear the registrar also got a bit tongue tied which made everyone laugh and relax. I could not wait to go off for the couple shoot I wanted to make the most of the location but avoid the seafront {it was a Bank Holiday} so we went to a rock shop and at first the people in the shop could not believe that they had just got married, Sam & Shanna ate rock and giggled throughout. We then headed to the 1950s’ American Diner which is a bit of a secret it was perfect for the couple, we had a ball in their and the waitress brought over the best milkshakes that I had ever tasted all on the house. When they sat in the window linked arms and stared out to sea it was like I was watching a movie it was so romantic and fun at the same time. We headed back to the venue to have dinner it was yummy some of the best food I have tasted all year, the speeches were heart felt and there were few dry eyes in the house, the evening kicked off with a first dance then the partying began… I loved this wedding it was so different and refreshing, I felt in my element in my home town, Shanna & Sam totally trusted me when I took them off for their couples shots, I think I can safely say we all had a great time, it was fun a wedding full of laughter and a hell of a lot of love. Thanks Shanna & Sam you are an adorable couple. X x also thanks to my second shooter the lovely Sue for coming with me too. Oh right at the bottom are my diana shots I often get emails people asking what they are, they are medium format film shots here is a link where you can find more out about it all… http://www.lomographylondon.co.uk/
